About Emerson

Emerson Magaña began his musical journey early on, influenced by his father and later entered the Institute of Fine Arts of the State of Colima, Mexico. After four years of dedicated training, he graduated as a Classical Guitar Master, marking the beginning of his musical career.

Emerson has participated in major cultural events, jazz festivals, seminars, and master classes alongside renowned musicians such as Ken Bassman, Tom Kessler, Aarón Cruz, and Antonio Sánchez. His versatility has led him to collaborate with various national and international artists across a range of genres, including jazz, blues, rock, and traditional Latin styles. He has composed original songs, including "Tequila Time," "Que Lata,""Enfermo de Amor" and "Give Me Your Love."

Emerson’s distinguished career has also taken him to luxury venues throughout Mexico such as Hacienda San Antonio, Cuixmala, Costa Careyes and Four Seasons, where he has performed for high-profile clients.

Since relocating to St. Louis, Emerson has made a significant impact on the local music scene. He is a key member of Gipsy Social, a group that covers music by Buena Vista Social Club and Gipsy Kings. He has also recently served as Master of Ceremonies at Jazz St. Louis for their prestigious fundraiser featuring Chucho Valdés and Paquito D'Rivera.

In addition to performing, Emerson curates an intimate concert series called Casa Privada, which showcases his signature Latin sound alongside some of St. Louis' finest musicians in a beautiful setting at a private residence in Creve Coeur.

Whether as a soloist or part of a duo, or trio, Emerson brings professionalism, passion, and musicality to every event, seamlessly blending genres like Bossa Nova, Bolero, Salsa, Cuban, Trova, and Tango—making him a sought-after musician for weddings, private dinners, and special occasions.  His performances can be enjoyed at local restaurants, wineries, and venues throughout the St. Louis area, and fans can stay informed through his calendar or newsletter.
